Get ready people because American idol is back.  Granted some idol contestants haven't had the best luck as of late - Taylor Hicks, Katherine McPhee, and Ruben Studdard have all been dropped by their labels.  Katherine is unable to sell her wedding pictures to any gossip magazine, Jessica Sierra is known more for her arrest and sex tape than her idol past, and Jordin Sparks debut CD isn't selling as  well as hoped. So I am not holding my breath for the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, but instead for the next Antonella Barba!  It's time to hope for a new Idol scandal that will rock the very foundation of the country. The producers of Idol have stated that this year the show will improve on the one that seemed to drag last year without any solid stand out performer.  Melinda Doolittle was the best singe, but she had the deer in headlights look going every week. Her personality could have been compared to a wet moldy sponge - no spark there.  This years talent and personality is supposed to shine.  The bad performers that highlight the audtion shows are going to be even worse than previous years! It all begins tonight as Idol Season 7 kicks off at 8PM!

Well on a slow gossip weekend that culminates with the Emmy Awards tonight I thought I would create a little poll. It isn't often you have a photo scandal involving members of a show that generate rating records. Vanessa Hudgens is the current it girl when i comes to photo scandals, but it was only a few months ago that Antonella Barba caused waves all over the web. I ask you who had the better scandal?

Alaina should have sported these sexy looks when she was on the show and she might have been rewarded with some extra weeks on the show. This might get her a nice little recording deal or, at a minimum, a spread in Maxim!

After getting the boot from American Idol Antonella Barba has some decision to make about her career.  With $750,000 in offersalready on the table from Girls Gone Wild and Sugar DVD she can set herself up with a nice little nest egg, but what will she do?

In an interview with reporters she said she will reject any prurient career offers that come her way. Nor, she added, would she pose nude, or in partial clothing, for any reason. "That is not the way I want to present myself," she said. "I keep getting told no publicity is bad publicity. Yes, it's true my name is more well-known because of it. But I'm not known for the things I want to be known for. I'd rather present myself in a more classy way." "Right now, I'm going to stay in L.A. for a week or two," she said. "I want to see what I can do with this for a career. I want to strike while the iron is hot," she added.

At this point she doesn't have  a lot to hide and if she can pocket a nice chuck of change working with Sugar or GGW without having to take her clothes she should jump at the chance.  She is getting 30 minutes of fame and it won't last forever.  No one will give her a recording contract with the voice she showed on the show, but her pictures generated enough traffic that whatever she does with her good looks will generate some serious cash.

The dream ended tonight for 4 contestants including the most popular girl on the Internet - Antonella Barba.  She took her photo fame as far as it could go and I think she will be fine.  I give her 3 months before she is on the cover of FHM or Maxim.  The biggest shock of the night was the elimination of Sabrina Sloan who had some very solid performances in each of the elimination weeks.  Haley Scarnato advanced after a shaky song choice last night, but I guess America felt she had something that I didn't see.  Pretty boy Jared Cotter got the hook after trying to get by on his looks and boring performances.  The shock of the night was Sundance Head being bounced and Sanjaya moving on to the top 12.  What did the voters see in Sanjaya that the judges didn't?  Maybe they felt the new hair style gave him an edge.  Overall though maybe is right because two African Americans and one fat guy were bounced!  Damn racists and weightist show!

The end might be 24 hours away for Antonella Barba because the ladies impressed again tonight.  The Internet celebrity might be fielding offers from several publications next week to take more pictures, but she shouldn't be singing in front of 40 million viewers.  Tonight the top two were one again Lakisha and Melinda.  They just seem to be naturals on stage and I don't see them being challenged until the final 4 when you might get into some popularity contests.  Tomorrow night we should be saying good bye to Antonella and Haley. If you listen to Rosie O'Donnell on the view you would believe that the people that run American Idol are racist for allowing Antonella Barba to stick around and for booting Frenchie after her adult pictures came out.

'Rosie O'Donnell laid a smackdown on "American Idol" this morning from her perch on "The View," saying that"Idol" canned former contestant Frenchie Davis for her breast-baring snapshots, but kept current wannabe Antonella Barba despite hers -- because Davis is black and fat and Barba is, well, not. "It's weightist and wacist," said Rosie, doing her best Donald Duck impression.'

These situation are very different Rosie. Frenchie was paid to professionally pose on the sites her pictures appeared on where Antonella had pictures taken with friends while on vacation and made a sexy calendar for her boyfriend.  Claiming the show is weightist????  Hey Rosie look at the contestants this year and you will see plenty of plus size men and women belting out tunes. If you spend your whole life looking at the negative you will never see any positive.

The questions will be answered by Thursday, but it begins tomorrow night when the guys perform.   Who will stay and who will go?  Will Antonella Barba survive on the strength of her Internet fame or will her lack of a singing voice finally catch up with her?  Will any of the guys step up and become a possible challenger for some of the powerhouse vocals coming from the ladies?  The final 10 get to tour the country, get their face on a CD, and can possibly end up like Kellie Pickler with a nice new pair of "shoes".
